Your account
Deleting your account
You can delete your Spoolroom account yourself, from the app or any web browser, without asking anyone. It works the same whether the workshop is yours or you are a member of someone else's.
How to delete it
- Sign in — in the Spoolroom app, or at spoolroom.app in any web browser. You don't need the app installed.
- Open Settings → Account and tap Delete account.
- If the workshop is yours, you're offered a download of everything in it first. Take it if you want a copy; it can't be made later.
- Type the workshop's name to confirm, and tap Delete account. If your account has a passkey, you'll confirm with it.
Lost your passkey? On the sign-in page, choose Lost every device? to get back in with a link sent to the address on your account, then follow the steps above.
Can't sign in at all — no passkey, and no way to use the emailed link? Write to hello@spoolroom.app from the email address on the account and ask us to delete it. We'll confirm you control that address first, then delete it the same way.
One case needs us: if you own more than one workshop, deleting your account would leave one without an owner, so the app sends you to hello@spoolroom.app to sort it out together.
What happens straight away
- Your account is closed and you're signed out on every device. Nobody can sign in to it.
- If the workshop is yours, it closes too: any watcher, API key or assistant connection stops working. A paid plan bought on the website or in the Android app is canceled at the same moment; the rest of the period is not refunded.
- A subscription bought in the iPhone app is not canceled — Apple only lets you do that yourself. Cancel it first in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
- If you are a member of someone else's workshop, that workshop is not affected: only your account and your place in it are deleted. API keys you created there stop working at once.
30 days to change your mind
Nothing is deleted on the spot. For 30 days your account still exists, untouched and reachable by nobody. Email hello@spoolroom.app before then and we'll restore it (a workshop you own comes back as it was, on the Free plan). If you would rather it went sooner, ask and we'll delete it straight away.
What is deleted after 30 days
Permanently, with no way to recover it:
- If the workshop is yours: everything in it — spools, filaments, prints, supplies, printers, purchases, notes, photos, settings and assistant chats — and every connection (watchers, API keys and assistant connections).
- Your place in any workshop you were a member of, and your devices' notification registrations there.
- Your sign-in: your passkeys and any sign-in links, and the record of which days you used Spoolroom and which platform you signed up on. Your name and email address are removed from your account; the account itself is kept only as a nameless “Deleted user” marker so the records below still add up.
What is kept, and why
Copies that already left the account are not removed with it. Each of these is kept for the reason given:
- A record that the deletion happened — the proof your request was honored. After the 30 days it holds identifiers, counts, dates, the workshop's short web name and any reason given for the deletion; your name, address and the workshop's name are on it only during the 30 days, so we can match an email from you.
- The account's activity log — entries such as a passkey added or the deletion requested, with what happened and when. They stay, linked to the nameless marker, no longer to a workshop.
- Notices to our team. When you sign up, ask for an invite, accept one or delete a workshop you own, a short notice goes to our team's private chat (Discord) with your email address and your name or your workshop's name. Feedback you send from the app is posted there too, with your display name and workshop's name. Those posts stay as our record of what happened.
- Emails you wrote to us, as correspondence.
- Payment records, if you ever paid on the website: what was charged and the terms you agreed to at checkout, kept for as long as consumer-protection law requires. Stripe, Apple and Google keep their own records of payments made through them, under their own policies.
- Backups. The database is backed up nightly, encrypted, off-site. Backups aren't edited one account at a time; your data leaves them as the older backups expire on their regular schedule. They exist only to recover from an accident.
