Common questions

How do I sign in?

With a passkey — Face ID, a fingerprint or your device's screen lock. There is no password. Open the sign-in page and choose Sign in with passkey.

You can also choose Continue with email. We'll email you a link that expires in 15 minutes and works once. It's useful on a borrowed computer you don't want to save a passkey on.

I lost every device with my passkey on it

On the sign-in page, tap Lost every device? and enter the address on your account. We'll email a link; open it on your new device, and it signs you in and sets up a new passkey there.

This works only if your account has a confirmed email address. While you can still sign in, check Settings → Account: an address marked “unconfirmed” can't sign you in until you open the link we sent to it.

What is the watcher, and do I need it?

It's optional. The watcher is a small helper you run on a computer that stays on at home — a Raspberry Pi, a mini PC, a NAS. It reads your printers over your own network and logs each finished print, so filament comes off the right spool without typing. It only reads, never controls a printer, and it only connects outward, to Spoolroom.

Set it up from Settings → Connections → Connect a Watcher. Which printers it can read, and what to switch on at each one, is on the printers page. Without a watcher you can log prints by hand.

How do I get a copy of my data?

Settings → Data & export. “Everything (backup)” is your whole workshop in one file, and there are spreadsheet formats too. Export works on every plan, including after canceling.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Account → Delete account, in the app or on spoolroom.app in any web browser — whether the workshop is yours or you're a member of someone else's. It closes your account at once and permanently deletes it 30 days later; until then it can be restored. If you can't sign in at all, the same page says how to ask us instead. What is deleted, what is kept and why: Deleting your account.
