Terms
Terms of using Spoolroom
Last updated 2026-10-11
These terms cover your use of Spoolroom, a filament inventory service operated by Ironstone Foundry LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company. By using this site or the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use it. They are written to be read, so where a term is unusual it says why.
1. Your account
You sign in with a passkey on your device, or with a one-time link sent to your email address. You are responsible for the devices that hold your passkeys. If you lose them all, a verified email address is the only way back in, which is why enrolling a second device matters.
One account owns one workshop. There are no seats, no shared workspaces and no member invitations.
2. What you are allowed to do
Track your own filament, printers, prints and supplies, for personal or business use, through the app, the print watcher, the public API or a connected assistant. Automated access is fine and is what the API keys are for.
Do not use the service to store anything unlawful, attempt to reach another customer's workshop, or deliberately overload the service. The plan limits are the fair-use boundary; there is no hidden second one.
3. Your data stays yours
You keep every right you have in what you put into Spoolroom. We store and process it to run the service for you, and for nothing else. It is never sold, never shared with other customers, and never used to train a model.
A complete export in JSON is built into the app, available to you at any time, on every plan, including after you cancel. That is a term here and not just a feature, because “you can leave with your data” only means something if leaving does not lock the door first.
It is self-serve by design. You do not need to ask, and we do not run exports, deletions or account changes on request — the buttons in Settings do it, without anyone reading your inventory to fulfil it. What we do on request is in section 6: restoring an account you deleted or finishing its deletion early, and deleting an account nobody can sign in to.
What we collect and why is in the privacy notice.
4. Plans, prices and renewal
Free plans stay free. Paid plans bill in advance — monthly, and annually wherever we offer that — and renew automatically until you cancel. The amount, the interval and the renewal are shown before you enter card details and again on your Plan screen.
Changing plan or storage partway through a period. Upgrading your plan or adding extra storage takes effect at once and is charged at once, prorated for the rest of the current period, plus any sales tax; if that payment does not go through, nothing changes. Moving to a cheaper plan or removing storage takes effect at the end of the current period, and nothing is credited.
One-off purchases. An AI credit pack is charged once, at checkout, which shows the price and any sales tax before you pay. Its credits never expire, stay with you if you cancel, and are not refunded (see Canceling and refunds).
If we raise a price, you keep yours. A price change applies to new subscriptions. Anyone already subscribed stays on the price they signed up at unless and until we tell them otherwise directly, with notice, and with the chance to cancel first.
A plan bought on the website is sold through Link, the merchant-of-record service Stripe runs (Stripe Managed Payments): Link is the seller of record for that purchase. Your card statement shows LINK.COM* SPOOLROOM, and your receipts and invoices are emailed to you by Link. Prices are shown before tax; sales tax is added at checkout based on your billing address. Link's customer support can also help with a question about a payment or a refund. We never see or store your card number.
Bought in the iPhone or Android app? Then Apple or Google bills you, under their own terms, at the in-app price shown before you confirm. You change or cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions, and the store handles its refunds. Everything else here applies the same way.
5. Canceling
Cancel whenever you like, from Settings → Plan → Cancel subscription. It takes as few clicks as subscribing did. There is no phone call, no retention queue and no form to email. A plan bought in the app is canceled in the App Store or Google Play instead — the Plan screen says where.
Canceling stops all further charges. There is no bill after you cancel, including for anything added during the current period, which was charged when you added it. You keep the paid plan until the end of the period you have already paid for, then the workshop moves to the Free limits. Nothing is deleted. Everything you already have stays, stays readable and stays exportable. Paid time itself is not refunded. Full details, including why, are in canceling and refunds.
6. Deleting your account
Deleting your workshop from Settings closes it immediately: nobody can sign in to it, and any watcher, API key or assistant connection stops working. Any paid plan is canceled at the same moment, and the rest of the period is not refunded. Thirty days later the workshop and everything in it, including photos, your passkeys and your sign-in, is permanently deleted. If you are a member of someone else's workshop rather than its owner, deleting your account works the same way for your account and your place in it; that workshop is not affected.
Those thirty days are a safety net, not a queue. If you change your mind, write to hello@spoolroom.app before they are up and we will restore it exactly as it was, on the Free plan. If you would rather it went sooner, ask and we will delete it straight away. Once it is permanently deleted it cannot be recovered, so export first. If you cannot sign in at all, write to us from the account's email address and we will delete it once we have confirmed you control that address. We keep a record that a deletion happened, never your inventory, because that record is the proof your request was honored; what else outlives an account, and why, is listed on Deleting your account.
7. AI features
Photo recognition and the assistant are optional. When you use them, the request and the inventory facts needed to answer it go to the AI provider, under our key or your own if you have added one. Their output is a suggestion: every action that changes your inventory still ends at a confirmation from you.
8. Availability, and what we promise
We aim to keep Spoolroom running and back it up nightly to encrypted off-site storage, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. The service is provided as-is, without warranties beyond those the law gives you and which cannot be excluded.
To the extent the law allows, our liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
9. Changes and ending
We may change these terms. The current version is always the one on this page, dated at the top, and continuing to use Spoolroom after a change accepts it. You can stop using it, or delete your account, at any time.
We may decline service to anyone breaking section 2, and a subscription that goes unpaid past its grace period lapses to the Free plan on its own. Neither is a process we run on request or on a schedule.
If we ever close Spoolroom, we will email every account at least 60 days before it shuts down. Through that notice period the service keeps running, nothing is charged for time after the shutdown date, and the export described in section 3 stays available until the last day. Any paid time left over when the service ends is refunded, pro rata, to the card that paid for it.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, and the courts there have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away protections you have under the law where you live.
